16 March 2010: “Just dropping you an email to say that I had a really good experience with your colleagues at the Westfield Miranda shopping booth. I did have a few questions as I had never done this before.
I had some unwanted gold jewellery that I had been given or inherited which was broken or just not my taste. Most of it was 9 carat gold and I was advised how the pricing all worked against the current gold prices. It was really interesting and quite informative. We watched it all be weighed and tested with a magnet and acid test, and then of course the price which was to be paid.
With the money, we kitted out my son for the upcoming footy season (which was nearly $200 worth of items). We have put the rest of the money towards my daughter’s TAFE fees and bought a few luxury items for ourselves. It certainly came in handy, so much so my husband made a second trip up with all my broken silver items too!!

Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation
The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) was established in May 2000 and led by eminent gynaecological oncology specialist, Chairman/Co-Founder Associate Professor Thomas Jobling and CEO/Co-Founder Liz Heliotis. It has developed to become one of Australia’s pre-eminent body supporting ovarian cancer research programs that occur nationally, and are focused upon the understanding of the causes of ovarian cancer, its early detection and improve patient survival.
A gynaecological cancer, cancer of the ovaries is one of the most common cancers affecting women and is often detected in the advanced stage of the disease, resulting in a high mortality rate. This is because the symptoms of ovarian cancer are not recognised immediately. Once diagnosed, treatment will usually include surgery and chemotherapy, depending on the stage of the cancer at diagnosis.
One goal of the OCRF is to improve the mortality rate and long-term survival rates for ovarian cancer. This may be achieved by the development of an early detection program - which is the focus of much of the ovarian cancer fundraising activities of the OCRF - and by raising community awareness.
Many fundraising initiatives are undertaken by the OCRF, such as the annual Silver Ribbon Campaign, the proceeds of which directly provide funding for research into an early detection program for cancer of the ovaries.
